If someone gave/did something to you, but it is not what you wanted... Does that mean that they didn't give/do anything?

Today is memorable in the cricketing fraternity for 2 reasons - one is obviously the '100th 100'. - the other is that in the quest for personal records, the players put the game at stake by keeping point1 as the highlight. What a shame!
